Case Study: Bespoke Luxury Kitchen Project Completed in East Anglia

Traditional Barn Conversion Shaker Kitchen

Earlier on this year, we were given the pleasure to design, manufacture and install this bespoke luxury kitchen in East Anglia for a couple who were breathing life back into a beautiful 18th century barn. They were looking for a traditional yet modern kitchen with the latest technology but still in keeping with traditional themes and design features.

A few weeks ago, we went and took some photographs of the finished fitted kitchen in Suffolk and wow, what an amazing space! The large floor-to-ceiling windows with tall beamed walls and ceilings add so much character to this building. A floating landing joins each end of the barn together and below is a dining area seating up to ten people and an impressive entrance hall.

Bespoke Luxury Kitchen East Anglia

Through an angled beamed opening it leads you through to the kitchen. In keeping with the period of the property, our clients went for a traditional East Anglia inset framed shaker style bespoke luxury kitchen, with oak carcass and an chunky exterior plinth. An oven mantle area frames the Rangemaster drawing your eye down to the far end of the room.

Our clients went for a very modern two tone French grey colour scheme which is very on trend and works great in this room. With the high ceilings and tonnes of natural light flooding through the large bifold doors the grey works perfectly keeping the room fresh and lifted.

The large island with a solid oak circular breakfast bar works so well with the space and allows up to 4 people to sit round it comfortably. The oak ties in the with the beams and over the years will settle into its surroundings and age and colour naturally, just like the beams throughout the barn.

Personally Designed Kitchen Project

Below is a circular base unit with three inset framed shaker doors making full use of all the space. Great to store any urplus crockery or those extra bits and bobs we collect over the years, all tucked away and out of sight.

One side of the island consists of two sets of wide pan drawers with a push to soft close mechanism. Inside the handmade oak dove tail drawers is a bespoke oak cutlery tray, made to fit all your utensils and cutlery.

All of our drawers can hold up 40kg of weight and so is great for large amount of pans & plates.

On the other side is a double door Capel wine cooler. This features two temperature zones, one side for red and the other for white.

Framed by the window is a large double butler sink. Incorporated with a Perrin & Rowe tap. To the left a chrome button for the Insinkerator.

Our customers said:

‘We absolutely love the insinkertor, it’s easy to use and great for getting rid of vegetable peelings and food waste. This stops any bin odours and our waste has halved. We couldn’t live without it now!’

On the far left of the Suffolk fitted kitchen, a large American fridge freezer is tucked within two larder units and a top box with a lift up soft close door. The larder units are fully shelved with chunky oak shelves.

At the far end of the kitchen is a mantle area with a grey Rangemaster duel fuel. Andrew designed the mantle area with the traditional theme continuing. This cleverly conceals the extractor flue for the cooker hood which is ducted out for best results. The back and sides of the internal area is tiled with textured white metro tiles. Easy to clean and looks great.

Either side, there are units to store herbs and spices, ready to be used when needed.

Beautiful Shaker Kitchen

Fitted into either end of islands side panel are double plug sockets ready to be used.

Corner wall units with double open doors, allowing full access into the units. These are in both corners either side of the mantle area making use of the full corner space.

Pewter chunky square knobs and pulls on all the drawers have been used throughout and work with the two-tone grey colour scheme. These ones are from Finesse who we work closely with the bring our customer a handle that works both with their new kitchen but will also stand the test of time and still look naturally beautifully with the years to come. They will age and mature just like the kitchen.

The light natural limestone flooring, is warming but also ands a fresh light feeling to the space It is perfect for a kitchen hard wearing and brings the outside in.

The dark granite used on the island and the outer units is a dark natural granite with very thick white/light veins and fleck running through out with matching upstands on the walls. With the white veins it is easy to see the natural layers that granite gives. So beautiful. This granite off sets the grey units perfect and it very on trend. Topped of the very unique black metal large pendant light finishes off the colour and design scheme perfectly.

Over all this beautiful shaker kitchen with an oak accents and dark natural granite is a great social area with the tall ceilings and large bifolds flooring the space with natural light and air. The two-tone colour scheme is bang on trend and creates a very relaxing environment.

Our customers from Caple Saint Mary, Suffolk said,
