This bespoke display shelf is the epitome of elegance, it oozes craftsmanship and yet allows the display pieces to breathe without any intrusion, good design rests easy upon the eye.
Working in close partnership with the homeowner and the builder, our master joiners were able to fashion this bespoke oak display shelf so that it added balance to the room. The lighting is discreet, even and soft, and provides neat vignettes of glow around each of the owner’s display pieces.
Although the recessed units are in two components, providing visual balance, the design introduces subtle asymmetry by using odd blocks of shelving and using a Fibonacci style ratio for the central display in each aperture, allowing the taller pieces to occupy the spaces without crowding. The euclidian appeal of this piece has a neat counterpoint in the art-deco style skirting boards, and the corollary is a well-balanced unobtrusive design which allows the collected items to arouse curiosity.
Each bespoke oak shelf is flawlessly fitted with no visible joints, it’s as if the shelves were part of the room.
