Master Kitchen Fitters

Debenvale – Masters in bespoke fitted furniture

You have heard it before but it’s true, the kitchen is the heart of the home.

Planning a new kitchen is an exciting time but it can be a daunting process and with so many aspects to consider here’s a few points to start thinking about during the planning stages.

Choose your style

Think about the styles you like and what suits your home. Door style is a great place to start; shaker or flat doors, wooden or coloured, curved or straight, with handles or without?

Functions and Features

What appliances are essential and what other features would you like to include?

Island units are great for extra workspace and seating. A pantry or swivel larder organises kitchen essentials, a neat pull out bin conceals your waste and ultra deep drawers provide easy access to larger pots and pans. Open shelved units for cookery books and glass fronted doors and dresser units can display your favourite pieces.

Make it personal

Add individuality with simple or ornate cornice or bead details on each door, right down to the plinths; an internal or external plinth can make a big difference to the overall look. Don’t forget the insides of the cabinets, a contrasting interior and glass shelving is another feature to think about.

A classic Belfast sink or a quirky tap can enhance your kitchen style and radiators have become a feature too with many bold and different designs now available.

Practical work surfaces

For a practical and stylish worktop, quartz stone is our best seller due to its hardwearing properties and with so many different colours and finishes it’s a great choice. Natural granite, wood, corian, laminate and glass are also worth considering.

Choose your flooring

There is huge range of natural stone available in tiles of all shapes, sizes, colours and finishes to suit every style of kitchen.  Porcelain flooring is growing in popularity as they are harder than ceramic and give the appearance of marble, stone or even wood. A thermostatic underfloor heating matt can be installed to gently warm the tiles beneath your feet.

Create a mood

Lighting is an important feature and can create different moods or highlight specific areas. Consider low energy LED spot lights, under lighting on wall units, plinth lighting and pendant lighting over dining and prep areas.

With so many decisions to make, many people feel they just don’t know where to begin, and that’s why it’s important to work with an experienced designer that can help you make these important decisions and put together the right materials and appliances in a layout that is functional and practical and most importantly works for you.
